New Extraordinary Regularization 2026: A Definitive Guide to Obtaining Your Residency in Spain
Regularización Extraordinaria de Extranjeros en España 2026

14 de April de 2026

If you are currently living in Spain without legal status, a historic and time-limited opportunity has just opened to normalize your situation. The current Regulation offers much broader pathways than previous processes, making it easier for entire families to obtain legal status together.

From our law firm, we have summarized the requirements and the different ways you can access this residency and work permit.

Fundamental Requirements

To participate in this extraordinary process, every applicant must meet these three basic criteria:

  • Clean Criminal Record: You must not have a criminal record in Spain or in your home country within the last 5 years.
  • Entry Date: You must have arrived in Spain before January 1st, 2026.
  • Minimum Stay: You must prove that you have been in Spain for at least 5 months at the time of submitting your application.

Three Pathways to Residency

The success of your application depends on proving at least one of these circumstances:

  • A) Labor Ties: If you have previously worked in Spain or have a job offer/commitment for the future.
  • B) Family Unit: If you live in Spain with your minor children, children with disabilities, or parents.
  • C) Certificate of Vulnerability: If you do not meet the previous criteria, this pathway allows for regularization through a report from public social services or authorized entities certifying a situation of precariousness or social risk.

The Benefit: Residency and Work Permit

Once approved, you will receive a one-year authorization that legally allows you to live and work anywhere in Spain. Furthermore, minor children who are regularized under their parents’ application may obtain authorizations valid for up to 5 years.

Critical Deadlines: Do Not Wait Until the Last Day

This is an extraordinary process with a very short duration:

  • Start Date: April 16th, 2026.
  • Final Deadline:June 30th, 2026.
